The Bank of Nova Scotia, which operates under the brand Scotiabank, is a Canadian multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. It was founded on March 30, 1832, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is one of Canada's Big Five banks. Scotiabank is the third largest Canadian bank by assets and deposits, and provides personal and commercial banking, wealth management, and corporate and investment services. It employs about 88,000 people, holds roughly 1.5 trillion dollars in assets, and maintains a global presence across many countries, trading under the ticker symbol BNS on both the Toronto and New York stock exchanges.
