Banco BPM S.p.A. is an Italian bank that began operating on January 1, 2017, formed from the combination of Banco Popolare and Banca Popolare di Milano. It is Italy's third largest retail and corporate banking group by total assets, behind only Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit, and it keeps dual headquarters in Verona and Milan. The bank offers retail banking, investment banking, corporate banking and insurance through a joint venture, and financial leasing, running about 1,436 branches in Italy. It trades on the Borsa Italiana under the ticker BAMI, sits in the FTSE MIB index, and is directly supervised by the European Central Bank as a significant institution.
