Amgen Inc. is an American biotechnology company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California, founded in 1980 as Applied Molecular Genetics. It was one of the first successful biotechnology companies, built on early recombinant DNA drugs including epoetin alfa and filgrastim, and it remains one of the largest independent biotechnology companies in the world.
