American Tower Corporation is an American real estate investment trust headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, spun off from the broadcaster American Radio Systems in 1998 to own and operate communications infrastructure such as cell towers. It is one of the largest owners and operators of wireless and broadcast communications towers in the world, leasing space on its towers to wireless carriers and other tenants across the United States and internationally.
