Alcoa Corporation

Alcoa Corporation is an American industrial company headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, one of the world's largest producers of bauxite, alumina and aluminum. Its origins trace to the Pittsburgh Reduction Company, founded in 1888 by Charles Martin Hall, inventor of the first commercially viable process for smelting aluminum, which was renamed the Aluminum Company of America, or Alcoa, in 1907 and grew into the dominant American aluminum producer for much of the twentieth century. The current Alcoa Corporation was spun off in 2016 as a separate upstream mining, refining and smelting company, while the former Alcoa Inc.'s downstream engineered products businesses continued as a separate company, Arconic. Alcoa operates bauxite mines, alumina refineries and aluminum smelters across several continents.
