Airtel Africa plc is a British company, headquartered in London, that provides telecommunications and mobile money services in 14 countries across East, Central and West Africa. It was formed on 8 June 2010 when Indian telecom group Bharti Airtel acquired Zain's mobile operations across 15 African countries for 8.97 billion dollars, and Bharti Airtel remains its majority owner with a 67.2 percent stake. The company offers mobile voice, data and broadband services and has grown through acquisitions such as Telecom Seychelles and Tigo Rwanda, with its Nigerian operation, Airtel Nigeria, its most profitable division. Airtel Africa is listed on the London Stock Exchange as a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
