Air Tahiti Nui is the flag carrier of French Polynesia, headquartered at Faa'ā International Airport in Tahiti. Established on 31 October 1996, it began flight operations on 20 November 1998 as the territory's first long-haul international airline, created to stimulate tourism, with the territorial government holding a majority stake.
