Air Austral is a French airline and the flag carrier of the overseas department and region of Réunion, based at Roland Garros Airport. Founded in December 1974 by Gérard Ethève as Réunion Air Services, it was renamed Air Réunion in 1986 and took its current name in November 1990, and today operates a fleet of about eight aircraft and roughly 900 employees on routes to metropolitan France, South Africa, Thailand and the Indian Ocean region.
