Aeon Co., Ltd. is a Japanese diversified retail holding company and one of Japan's largest retail operators, headquartered in the AEON Tower in Mihama-ku, Chiba. Its lineage traces to a small sundry goods store founded in 1758 during Japan's Edo period, later renamed Okada-ya Gofuku, which was legally incorporated in September 1926 and merged with other companies in 1970 to form Jusco; the company took its current Aeon name in 2001. As of 2023 Aeon operated 20,008 stores and employed more than 560,000 people across hypermarkets, shopping malls, supermarkets, convenience stores and financial services, ranking as the 17th largest retailer in the world by revenue in 2021.
