1&1 AG is a German telecommunications company headquartered in Montabaur, Rhineland-Palatinate, founded in 1988 and majority owned by United Internet AG, which has held a controlling stake since 2017. It provides fixed-line telephone, mobile telephony, broadband and internet services to roughly 15.4 million customer contracts, competing with Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica Germany and Vodafone Germany, and took its current name in 2021 after operating as 1&1 Drillisch.
