Charles Geschke was an American businessman who co-founded Adobe Inc. with John Warnock in 1982 after the two left Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center, where they had worked together on page-description language research that became the basis for Adobe's PostScript technology and later the PDF document format. He served as Adobe's president and later co-chairman, helping build it into one of the dominant companies in desktop publishing and digital document software. In 1992 he was kidnapped and held for four days before being rescued by the FBI, an episode he later spoke about publicly; he retired from Adobe's board in 2017 and died in 2021.
